Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia (IKRAM) has taken note of reports of the arrests of three (3) individuals in Hulu Selangor made by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as part of investigations relating to the management of zakat funds.
IKRAM perceives this matter seriously and emphasises that integrity and trust are fundamental principles which remain utmost priority in all organisational activities.
In this regard, IKRAM wishes to state the following:
1. Cooperation with Authorities
IKRAM fully respects the MACC’s current investigation process and will continue to provide the necessary cooperation, in accordance with legal requirements and the principles of justice.
2. Statuses of the Individuals Involved
As an administrative measure devoid of any prejudice, the individuals involved have been immediately relieved of all positions and responsibilities within the organisation. This step has been taken to ensure the smoothness and transparency of the investigation process.
3. Position of the Organisation
IKRAM wishes to clarify that this matter involves the actions of individuals and not the organisation directly. In accordance with IKRAM’s constitution, if proven guilty, disciplinary action will be taken to ensure that the integrity of the organisation is preserved.
4. Respect for Legal Processes
IKRAM will continue to respect the ongoing legal process and will issue no further comment on the matter. All decisions and clarifications are subject to the outcome of the authorities’ investigation.
5. Governance and Continuous Improvement
IKRAM is committed to continuously evaluating and strengthening its organisational governance practices to ensure transparency, integrity, and alignment with Islamic principles and the rule of law. Internal reviews are ongoing and will continue to ensure a comprehensive assessment.
IKRAM appreciates the concern shown by all parties and requests that due space be given to the authorities to conduct their investigation as appropriate.
IKRAM remains firm in its belief that any great responsibility entrusted to a party must be safeguarded with full integrity and will continue to observe this principle in all its operations.
