MyCARE sends RM734,290 aid to Lebanon

KUALA LUMPUR: Humanitarian Care Malay­sia (MyCARE) has channelled contributions totalling RM734,290 from Malaysians to Palestinian and Syrian refugees in Lebanon in conjunction with Ramadan.

Its chairman Assoc Prof Dr Hafidzi Mohd Noor said RM203,800 was given to the al-Inayah Medical Centre in Hamzeh and Burj el Shemali refugee camp that was collected by Econsave Cash and Carry supermarket.

Meanwhile, RM100,000 contributed by Pertubuhan Ikram Malaysia Ramadan Appeal was delivered to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, he said in a statement.

Dr Hafidzi said volunteers would hand over Ramadan and Hari Raya packs worth RM410,000 to refugees in Palestine and Syria at 10 locations, including the Burj El-Barajna and Shatilla camps in Beirut.

They also gave camp management aid and medical assistance amounting to RM11,800 from Ikram Health to four patients in Beeka Camp.

Dr Hafidzi said the contributions would be delivered by Aqsa Syarif and i4Syria missions headed by MyCARE board of trustees member Syed Mohd Radhi Syed Sakkaf, accompanied by five personnel.

They have been in Lebanon for six days since Thursday. – Bernama
