Malaysian Women Coalition for Al Quds and Palestine (MWCQP) condemns in the strongest term the assassination of Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh while on duty to let the world know the truth on Jenin raid by the Israeli Occupation Force (IOF).
Journalists working in areas of armed conflict or on dangerous professional missions are protected under Geneva Conventions 1949, Article 79 of additional Protocol 1.
Shireen was wearing ‘PRESS’ vest jacket which was very visible as well as protective helmet while on duty.
This brutal, deliberate and targeted killing was executed as she was hit on the head just below the helmet and there was delay in transferring her to the nearest hospital due to continuous firing from the IOF as reported by her Al Jazeera reporter colleagues who were with her during the attack.
These killings will continue if the world choose to remain silent and not act on this coward bully – Israel. Be wary of the IOF narratives on this incident. The truth must prevail.
MWCQP calls on civil minded people and international communities to pressure Israel to abide to international laws, to dismantle the apartheid regime and be punished for the the crimes against humanity committed in the past seven decades.
Everybody can do something to help free Palestine, and return justice and peace to Palestine.
