Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia is utterly shocked, disgusted and dismayed with the recent sentencing of Dr Mohammed Badie, The Supreme Guide of Muslim Brotherhood and 13 others by the Egyption Court.
The Egyptian court has confirmed the death sentence on Dr Badie and 13 others for conspiring against the state. They are to be hanged for plotting attacks by inciting chaos and violence, the judge said. The sentences were given after the judiciary consulted Egypt’s ultimate Islamic authority, the grand mufti.
Prior to this, Dr Badie received four death sentences since his first in 2013. The Minya Criminal Court gave Badie his first death sentence for inciting violence at the Edwa Police Station in Minya. The same court then issued another death penalty against Badie for violent actions committed against police forces and civilians in the aftermath of the sit-in dispersals.
Recently, Badie was also sentenced to death by the Banha Criminal Court for inciting violence in Qalyub. And the forth by the Cairo Criminal Court for establishing an operations room to instruct Brotherhood members to confront the authorities and spread chaos after the deadly dispersal of the Rabea al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins in August 2013.
Dr Mohammed Badie succeeded Mohammad Mahdi Akef as the 8th Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 2010.
