Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia (IKRAM) merakamkan rasa sedih dan dukacita dengan pemergian mantan Mursyid Am Ikhwan Muslimin, Almarhum Syeikh Muhammad Mahdi Akif, yang telah kembali ke rahmatullah pada Jumaat, 22 September 2017 di Kaherah.
IKRAM mengucapkan takziah kepada para pemimpin Ikhwan Muslimin dan ahli keluarga Syeikh Muhammad Mahdi Akif.
Almarhum dilahirkan pada tahun 1928, tahun Ikhwan Muslimin ditubuhkan. Beliau merupakan Mursyid Am ketujuh Ikhwan Muslimin bermula pada 2004 hingga 2010.
Almarhum adalah Mursyid Am pertama yg memastikan tempoh kemursyidannya tidak disambung setelah ia tamat. Ini merupakan satu amalan baru dalam jamaah Ikhwan Muslimin. Kemursyidan Mursyid Am yang lain tamat setelah mereka meninggal dunia.
Almarhum adalah mantan Mursyid Am yang dipenjarakan bersama-sama Mursyid Am yang menggantikannya dan juga mantan Mursyid Am yang meninggal dunia dalam penjara.
Almarhum bersama ratusan pemimpin Ikhwan yang lain ditahan pada 2013 berikutan protes besar-besaran terhadap kudeta tentera yang dilakukan terhadap Dr. Mohamed Morsi, Presiden Mesir yang dipilih secara demokratik.
Kesusahan jasad dan keperitan duniawi merupakan penghujung hayatnya yang penuh dengan perjuangan menegakkan keadilan, menyeru kemakrufan, melawan kebatilan serta menentang kemungkaran.
Selamat pergi murabbi kami. Kami akan menyusul nanti dengan segala kebaikan yang terdaya dalam mujahadah menghayati ajaran al-Quran dan as-Sunnah Rasulullah SAW.
Moga Allah SWT menyediakan kesenangan bagi Almarhum di alam barzakh dan di akhirat nanti, serta rohnya ditempatkan bersama para syuhada’ dan solehin.

THE PASSING OF ALMARHUM SYEIKH MUHAMMAD MAHDI AKIF, FORMER MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD SUPREME GUIDE
Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia (IKRAM) is saddened and deeply sorrowed by the passing of the former Mursyidal ‘Am (Supreme Guide) of the Muslim Brotherhood, the late Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi Akif, who returned to Allah on Friday, 22 September 2017 in the hospital of the Cairo prison where he was held.
IKRAM expresses our heartfelt condolences to the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and to the family of the late Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi Akif.
Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi Akif was born in 1928, the year the Muslim Brotherhood was established. He was the seventh Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood from 2004 to 2010. He was also the first Supreme Guide who ensured that his term was not renewed after it had expired, which became a new practice for the organisation. Previous Supreme Guides remained in office until death.
The late Sheikh was imprisoned together with the Supreme Guide who succeeded him (Mohammed Badie), and was the first former Supreme Guide to die in prison.
He was arrested along with hundreds of other Muslim Brotherhood leaders in 2013 following a massive protest against the military coup which overthrew Dr. Mohamed Morsi, the democratically elected President of Egypt.
His life, which was a constant struggle in upholding justice, calling to good actions, and fighting against oppression as well as falsehood, ended in physical hardship under the cruelty of the world.
Farewell, dear teacher. We will follow in your footsteps, bringing with us our deeds from persevering in appreciating the teachings of the Quran and the traditions of Rasulullah (peace be upon him).
May Allah SWT be pleased with him and ease his way in the realm of the barzakh and the hereafter, and may his soul be placed among martyrs and the pious.
